Champion Pump grinder, sewage and effluent pumps, including the CPG grinder range.

Champion Pump is based in Ashland, Ohio. Its grinder range covers most residential, commercial and pressure-sewer duties:

CPG (H) 1 & 2 HPSingle-seal grinder with upper and lower ball bearings, cast iron pump, 1-1/4" discharge, cast iron vortex impeller, heads up to 134' TDH, single phase
CPG (H) DS 2 HPDouble-seal grinder with 1-1/4" or 2" discharge, single or three phase, heads up to 134' TDH
CPG 3573 to 7.5 HP double-seal grinder with 2" discharge, heads up to 160' TDH and flows up to 104 GPM

Sizing considerations

  • Flow (GPM): estimate peak inflow to the basin or wet well. For effluent dosing, use the dose volume and dosing time set by the system design.
  • Total dynamic head (TDH): add the static lift (vertical rise from pump-off level to the discharge point) to friction losses in the pipe, fittings and valves. Choose a pump whose curve crosses your system curve near its best-efficiency range.
  • Solids: clear water, effluent, raw sewage or fibrous waste each need a different impeller or cutter. Match the pump's solids-handling rating to the liquid.
  • Power supply: confirm voltage and phase (115/230 V single-phase or 208/230/460 V three-phase) and whether start components sit in the pump or the control panel.
  • Basin and controls: basin size, pump-down volume, float or level-sensor setup, and a high-water alarm.
  • Environment: corrosive or abrasive liquids may call for stainless steel. Classified (hazardous) locations need explosion-proof, approved motors where the code requires them.
  • Codes and permits: onsite septic and lift station work is regulated locally. Follow the approved design and local requirements.

Frequently asked questions

How high can a Champion grinder pump push?

Champion lists heads up to 134' TDH for its CPG 1 and 2 HP grinders, up to 160' for the CPG 357, and up to 205' for the CP GH23 high-head model. Your actual duty point depends on the flow you need.

Do I need a control panel?

It depends on the model. Some Champion grinders carry their start components in the pump; others need them in a matching control panel. We confirm this on your quote.
