Myers Pumps
Pentair Myers sump, effluent, sewage and grinder pumps for homes, commercial buildings and municipal systems.
Myers is a Pentair pump brand with a full range of residential and commercial wastewater pumps. Pentair's Myers catalog groups the range into sump, effluent, sewage, grinder, wastewater and utility pumps, plus prepackaged basin systems, controls and alarms.
Myers pump categories
- Myers sump pumps: submersible and pedestal models that Pentair rates for solids up to 1/2", with vertical, tethered or diaphragm switches. Prepackaged basin systems are also available.
- Myers effluent pumps: cast iron pumps for liquids with solids under 1". Pentair positions them for on-site septic systems that move gray water, and high-head effluent models are available for systems that need more head.
- Myers sewage pumps: sewage ejectors and solids-handling pumps (for example the SRM4 and MW series) for raw sewage.
- Myers grinder pumps: residential VRS models, plus commercial and municipal centrifugal grinders such as the V2 and the 3-5 HP VS30/VS50. Pentair says these use a patented axial cutter to macerate sewage solids into a fine slurry.
Choosing the right Myers pump
Start with the liquid. Clear water needs a sump pump. Settled effluent needs an effluent pump. Raw sewage needs a sewage pump, or a grinder when you are pumping into a small-diameter pressure line or up a big lift. Then check the head and flow against the pump curve, and confirm voltage, phase and control requirements.
Sizing considerations
- Flow (GPM): estimate peak inflow to the basin or wet well. For effluent dosing, use the dose volume and dosing time set by the system design.
- Total dynamic head (TDH): add the static lift (vertical rise from pump-off level to the discharge point) to friction losses in the pipe, fittings and valves. Choose a pump whose curve crosses your system curve near its best-efficiency range.
- Solids: clear water, effluent, raw sewage or fibrous waste each need a different impeller or cutter. Match the pump's solids-handling rating to the liquid.
- Power supply: confirm voltage and phase (115/230 V single-phase or 208/230/460 V three-phase) and whether start components sit in the pump or the control panel.
- Basin and controls: basin size, pump-down volume, float or level-sensor setup, and a high-water alarm.
- Environment: corrosive or abrasive liquids may call for stainless steel. Classified (hazardous) locations need explosion-proof, approved motors where the code requires them.
- Codes and permits: onsite septic and lift station work is regulated locally. Follow the approved design and local requirements.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between a Myers effluent pump and a sewage pump?
Effluent pumps handle settled liquid with small solids (Pentair rates Myers effluent pumps for solids under 1"). Sewage pumps are built to pass the larger solids found in raw sewage.
Do you supply Myers grinder pumps?
Yes, we can quote Myers pumps on request. Send the model number, or your head, flow and voltage, and we will confirm availability and pricing.
